Reds defender loving life under Dalglish

Martin Kelly claims knowing he has the full support of Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has helped to bring the best out of him. The England U21 international finds himself in direct competition with Glen Johnson for a right-back berth at Anfield, but continues to see his fair share of competition. He has started the Reds' last four games and can claim to have appeared against Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton more than any other sides in his career to date. The fact that Dalglish trusts him enough to keep throwing him into big games has helped to lift Kelly's confidence, and the 21-year-old admits he could not be in better hands. "It's always good to know the manager trusts you enough to put you in the side," Kelly told LFC Magazine.

Idol

"I think he trusts all the players here, based on what he sees in training every day. I think you need that trust as a manager, as well as a player. It works both ways. "For me to have his trust is fantastic. You're playing for the manager, and for the fans as well. I want to keep working hard to ensure he keeps trusting me. "The kind of player that Kenny was, and the idol that he is to so many people, to know he's willing to put you in gives you extra confidence. "For him to be our manager is fantastic for us players and for the club and I can only see good things happening here."
