Cardiff starlet Darcy Blake admits he feared he had broken his ankle in Saturday's meeting with Millwall.
The 21-year-old full-back found himself on the receiving end of a full-blooded challenge from Liam Trotter during the Bluebirds' 2-1 win.
The Lions midfielder saw red for his horror challenge, with a dangerous lunge leaving Blake writhing in agony.
For a moment the Wales U21 international thought he had suffered a similar fate to international colleague Aaron Ramsey, who broke his leg while on duty for Arsenal back in February.
Fortunately for Blake, he has been left with nothing more than a bruised ankle, but he knows he could have been looking at a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"I couldn't feel my ankle. Just no feeling in it at all. The worst fears go through your mind," he said.
"I remembered what happened to my mate Aaron Ramsey (whose leg was shattered in two places by a tackle from Stoke's Ryan Shawcross).
"He didn't have any feeling either. All sorts of things come into your mind."
Blake added: "I'm just counting my blessings now. I've got nothing against the lad who did it. These things happen. It was a physical game but there were no really dirty challenges.
"There's only bruising now so it's nothing serious."
