Brighton & Hove Albion have turned down a transfer request from defender Joel Lynch.

Adams also cools talk of a bid for Ifill

Brighton & Hove Albion have turned down a transfer request from defender Joel Lynch. The 20-year-old had asked to leave the Withdean Stadium after making just one brief substitute's appearance so far this season. However, Brighton boss Micky Adams has confirmed that the League One club have rejected Lynch's demand to leave. "I can confirm that Joel has submitted a written transfer request but, as far as the club is concerned, I have recommended to the board and the board have agreed with me that we turn it down," Adams told the Argus.

Rumour scotched

Meanwhile, Adams has played down reports that he is looking to sign Paul Ifill from Championship side Crystal Palace. Ifill is on the transfer list at Selhurst Park, but Adams is keeping an open mind regarding potential arrivals before the transfer window closes. He added: "Paul's been placed on the transfer list by Neil Warnock and if he was available he is a player that we may be interested in but we are interested in a lot of players at the moment so I would have to scotch that rumour."
