Lincoln defender Jeff Hughes has completed his move to Crystal Palace.

Palace boss Peter Taylor identified Hughes as one of his top targets last month but had a bid of £200,000 rejected by Lincoln.

However, talks continued and the two clubs have now settled on an undisclosed fee.

Hughes, who scored nine goals from left-back last season, has penned a three-year deal and is relishing the prospect of playing Championship football.

"I'm looking forward to the step up and the challenge and I'm very excited by it all," he said.

"I had an enjoyable time at Lincoln, making the play-offs twice but I have the chance here now.

"The manager has shown ambition of getting back into the Premiership and that's every footballer's dream."
