Bill Bratt has revealed that Port Vale are still chasing Crystal Palace midfielder Sam Togwell.

The Vale chairman confirmed that the club have made an improved offer for the player who impressed on a loan spell at the Potteries club.

The 21-year-old was voted the Valiants' young player of the year last term after his six-month deal from Selhurst Park.

Vale's offer was made before Peter Taylor was installed as the Eagles' new boss but Bratt is hopeful that this will not effect any deal.

"We will be following up our interest and we have increased our bid by a substantial amount." Bratt told The Sentinel.

"We are waiting to hear whether or not Sam will be surplus to Palace's requirements, hopefully we will get him."
