Danny Granville is poised to commit his future to Crystal Palace after being offered a new contract.

The experienced full back faced an uncertain time as his contract at Selhurst Park recently lapsed.

He was linked with a move to Ipswich Town but is now ready to extend his association with The Eagles.

Granville has been offered a two-year deal by Iain Dowie and the Championship club expect the 30-year-old to sign within the next week.

The defender has made over 100 appearances for Palace since joining the club in a £500,000 switch from Manchester City in December 2001.

Meanwhile, reports claim that Dowie has released striker Neil Shipperley from his contract 12 months before it is due to expire.

Shipperley endured an injury-hit past campaign as he was restricted to just three appearances and it is understood that he has been axed by Dowie.

The Palace boss has also opted against offering young goalkeeper Lance Cronin, who spent a spell on loan at Wycombe last season, a new deal.
