Ipswich boss Joe Royle has moved to quell speculation linking the club with Danny Granville.

The Crystal Palace defender is out of contract at Selhurst Park but whilst Royle concedes that he is a fan of the player, at the moment he is out of the club's price range.

Granville played under Royle at Manchester City but the former Oldham chief insists that he will not be reunited with the player at Portman Road this summer.

''I know Danny well and he's a very good player,'' Royle told the club's official website.

''But the simple fact is that he is out of our price range. It's as straightforward as that.

''People have put two and two together and decided he is coming here but we have had no contact whatsoever with Palace.''
