Crystal Palace are ready to offer Emmerson Boyce an improved contract as reward for his impressive start to the Premiership season.

The defender only joined Palace in the summer from Luton Town but has cemented the right back spot at Selhurst Park.

Boyce has started every Premiership game for The Eagles this term, and boss Iain Dowie now wants to improve his terms in recognition of his performance.

"He needs to be rewarded with what he's done, he's been fantastic and hopefully he'll get the recognition he deserves shortly," Dowie stated.

"We need to revamp his deal because he needs to be put on parity with the other players."

The 25-year-old had a clause inserted into his contract when he moved to Palace that would enable him to renegotiate his deal after he had made ten first-team starts.

He passed that figure some time ago and admits he is delighted with his rapid adaptation to Premiership life.

"I've come from the Second Division and I've got a lot to prove, but I've gone into the games and put 100 percent into it and hopefully that's been good enough for the manager and supporters," he stated.

"It's (the contract negotiations) come quicker than anyone expected, but we're in talks at the moment and I hope everything goes well and it gets sorted out soon."
