Modena's Antonio Marasco has been banned for three years after an investigation into Italian match-fixing claims.

The disciplinary commission rejected a number of the requests made by the prosecution regarding the betting scandal that has involved Serie A, B and C sides.

Modena will have a five-point penalty in next season's Serie B but Chievo and Siena were judged not guilty on all charges.

Sampdoria have been fined ‚é¼15,000 and there were also player punishments.

Marasco, part of the Modena team that was relegated, was hit hard with the lengthy suspension and the 34-year-old is now almost certain to be forced to announce his retirement.

Sampdoria's Stefano Bettarini has been banned for five months and former Siena keeper Generoso Rossi (pictured) is to be sidelined by a year's suspension.

Nicola Ventola has been totally cleared of any wrongdoing and this will ease the negotiations regarding a planned move to Crystal Palace.
