GRIMSBY TOWN are facing a setback as striker Steve Kabba is likely to return to Crystal Palace once his loan spell ends.

The Mariners were keen to keep the 21-year-old for the remainder of the season after he joined the Blundell Park side on a three-month loan deal in late August.

Player-manager Paul Groves was hoping he could persuade Palace to allow Kabba to continue his spell with the Division One strugglers.

However, Eagles boss Trevor Francis has made it clear that he wants the youngster to return to Selhurst Park when his loan ends in late November.

Kabba told the Crystal Palace official website: "Trevor Francis has already told me that he wants me back at Palace when the loan is up.

"I will do my best while I'm here but it appears as though that will be that - unless the gaffer changes his mind."

Kabba has only scored once while with Grimsby and has eight matches remaining with The Mariners before his loan expires on November 23.
