CRYSTAL PALACE defender Gregg Berhalter is close to finalising his switch to Iraklis after agreeing terms with the Greek club.

The American international is expected to pen a contract with Iraklis as soon as the loose ends of the deal are tied up.

Berhalter is surplus to requirements at Selhurst Park with Eagles boss Trevor Francis unimpressed with the defender's performances for the US during the World Cup.

He underwent a medical on Wednesday evening in Greece after suffering from niggling injuries but no problems were predicted.

The former Sparta Rotterdam man should be an Iraklis player by the end of the week with only a couple of minor details with Palace to be ironed out.

Meanwhile, landlords Palace are being linked with a £1.5 million raid on tenants Wimbledon for striker Patrick Agyemang.

The 21-year-old has scored eight goals in 66 league appearances for The Dons but has reportedly attracted the interest of Palace chief Francis.
