TORQUAY UNITED have handed trials to Tranmere defender Reuben Hazell and strike duo Richard Harris and Richard Logan.

McFarland is keen to strengthen his squad in the wake of Torquay's recent slump down the Third Division table, and all three are training with the club this week hoping to impress both The Gulls chief and his coaching staff.

Hazell, 22, is a long-term transfer target of McFarland's and has already agreed terms with Gulls chairman Mike Bateson.

It is likely he will sign a permanent deal before Saturday's clash at Lincoln, allowing McFarland to sign either Harris or Logan in a loan deal, after loanee Sean Hankin finally signed a long term deal at Plainmoor, which subsequently freed up a loan spot in McFarland's squad.

Harris featured in The Gulls' 3-0 friendly win against Newton Abbott on Friday and will spend the week at Plainmoor from First Division side Crystal Palace.

However, McFarland is likely to choose between him and 20-year-old Ipswich striker Richard Logan, who played under McFarland during a loan spell with Cambridge last season, unless one agrees to a permanent switch to The Gulls.
