Plymouth have completed the signing of defender Peter Hartley on a two-year deal from Stevenage.
The 26-year-old left-back, who can also operate more centrally, only joined Boro at the beginning of last season and made 31 appearances, scoring two goals.
However, Hartley has opted for a new challenge ahead of the 2014/15 season and he becomes Pilgrims boss John Sheridan's fifth summer signing behind Lee Cox, Carl McHugh, Reuben Reid and Deane Smalley.
The former Sunderland youth product previously spent four years with Hartlepool where he amassed almost 200 appearances, scoring 10 times.
