Sheridan still in player hunt

Plymouth boss John Sheridan is hoping to add further players to his squad after a busy summer so far.

Reuben Reid, Lee Cox, Luke McCormick, Deane Smalley, Matt Lecointe, Curtis Nelson, Nathan Thomas and Paul Wooton have all either joined the club or signed new deals since the end of the season, but Sheridan insists there is still business to be done. "I'm still trying to chase one or two other people," he told the club's official website. "It is defensive areas I'm looking at and I'm working hard to get a couple in. "It's not been easy. I had two players more or less ready to have their medical but, at the last minute, unfortunately for us, it's not happened." Plymouth's squad will reconvene on July 2 for pre-season training and Sheridan hopes to have finished his summer spending by then. "We are trying to get the players in early so they come in and start pre-season all together, and it's disappointing to get let down when you're so close, but that's part and parcel of football," he added.
