MK Dons defender Tom Flanagan has signed an extension to his contract which will keep him at Stadium MK until June 2015.

Despite only making five league starts this season, manager Karl Robinson was keen to tie Flanagan down for another year in order to give him further opportunities to break into the first team. Dons boss Robinson is confident the 22-year-old can now make the step up having had spells on loan at Kettering, Gillingham and Barnet to gain first-team experience. "He has been brought up playing the MK Dons way having graduated from the Academy," Robinson told the club's official website. "He's a great lad and he works tremendously hard on the training ground and next season is an opportunity for him to get into the team - It's a make or break season for him." Flanagan was equally excited about his prospects in the year ahead. "I'm pleased to get it all done and I'm just looking forward to the next year," he added. "I've made it known to the manager and everyone that I've wanted to play more games but it just hasn't worked out so far. "Hopefully, when I get my chance again I can take it."
