Plymouth's on-loan striker Steve Fletcher has urged his team-mates not to ease up until the threat of relegation is over.
The Pilgrims have climbed clear of the bottom two in recent weeks after a string of good results and currently hold a seven-point buffer with just three games to go.
However, the 39-year-old, who is on loan from Bournemouth until the end of the season, believes that one last push is required to ensure League Two football at Home Park next season.
"Obviously, you don't want to count your chickens before they've hatched because you never know what can happen in football," Fletcher told
Sky Sports.
"If you had told Plymouth fans a couple of weeks ago that we'd be seven points adrift with three games to go I'm sure they'd have bit your hands off.
"We are almost safe now, but until it is mathematically certain we can't take our foot off the gas by any means.
"If we win one of our remaining three fixtures then it is all done and dusted and we don't have to rely on anybody else, which is our main objective."
Fighting
The Pilgrims face home clashes against play-off hopefuls Oxford and Cheltenham, with a long trip to mid-table Morecambe sandwiched in between and Fletcher expects a stern test in each fixture.
He added: "There are no easy games in any division, whether it's the Championship, League One or whatever.
"We've got Oxford and Cheltenham at home and they've both got loads to play for because they are fighting to get into the play-offs.
"The other game is Morecambe away, who are a very strong side themselves and it is also a long trip up there too.
"We've just got to concentrate on ourselves and not worry too much about what Macclesfield, Hereford and Barnet are doing because if we get that one win, whether it's on Saturday against Oxford or in one of the other two games we know that we are mathematically safe."
