Plymouth boss Carl Fletcher praised young striker Matt Lecointe after the 17-year-old returned to first-team action.
The teenage prodigy had been left out of the side for six weeks but returned from the substitutes' bench during Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Crewe.
After Lecointe marked his return with a goal, his boss defended the decision to rest him in recent weeks.
"With young players, you are going to get that initial burst when they are involved in the first team," he told the Plymouth Herald.
"Generally, after that, they kind of plateau. I think probably 90 percent of teenagers would get that. Matty is only a young 17 and has got many, many years ahead of him."
