Caretaker boss Carl Fletcher has hit out at the refereeing decision which means Conor Hourihane will be banned for Plymouth's trip to Oxford.
Irish midfielder Hourihane was penalised for handball when blocking down a cross in the defeat to Swindon and will serve an automatic one-game ban as it was his fifth booking of the season, leaving Fletcher furious.
He told the Plymouth Herald: "In this day and age, it seems that if you concede a foul you have got to be booked. It's a joke really.
"Bookings for bad challenges are fair enough. But you don't need to book people for every foul they commit.
"It will be a chance for someone else to come in and do well."
And when pressed as to whether he was in the running to replace Hourihane himself, the Welshman added: "I'm not going to tell you anything like that, am I? Who knows?"
