Preston boss Phil Brown breathed a huge sigh of relief after his side beat Morecambe 7-6 in a JPT penalty shoot-out.

Brian McLean and Juhvel Tsoumou put Preston 2-0 up at half-time, but Phil Jevons and Kevin Ellison scored late on to force a shoot-out, which North End won 7-6 after Lewis Alessandra's miss. Brown said: "You have to give Morecambe credit, but we should have won the game in normal time. "We were good value at 2-0 up at the break and had a few good chances to add a third goal which would have killed it off." Brown added: "I'm really glad we got through, but I'd have liked to have done it far easier than we did. "But Morecambe got a goal back and they threw everything at us and although I thought it was a foul they scored a second goal to take it to penalties."
