Plymouth captain Carl Fletcher is set to stay with Argyle next season, according to acting chairman Peter Risdale.

The experienced midfielder has told the Pilgrims he will be taking up the option of a further 12 months on his contract. Fletcher, 31, has made 95 first-team appearances for the Devon club since arriving from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2009. "He has written to us and exercised the option in his contract," Risdale told The Herald. "I take it as a great compliment to everything we are trying to do at the club that he wants to stay with us."
