Robbie Williams has urged Stockport chairman Alwin Thompson to sign him at Edgeley Park on a permanent basis.
The left-back, who has spent time at Barnsley and Blackpool, joined the Hatters on non-contract terms after being released by Huddersfield Town over the summer.
But after a notable start to the season, which included a man-of-the-match performance in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Wycombe, 25-year-old Williams is hoping for a more concrete deal.
Contract
"It happened very quickly," Williams told the
Manchester Evening News.
"I've been about this pre-season. I've been up to Scotland, at Stockport and training on my own.
"I've signed a non-contract so I can play games until the chairman comes up with the right amount of money for me."
He added: "It's a big gamble.
"I'm not fully contracted so if I got injured and was out for six months it's going to make the chairman think 'I don't really want to sign him now'.
"Hopefully I've done enough for the chairman to get his finger out and come up with the goods so I can sign.
"I would like it to get sorted so I can sign a proper contract and stay here for a year or two."

Manager Paul Simpson has indicated he is looking for an experienced left-back to bolster his squad, and could keep Williams as part of a new-look back four which has conceded just one goal so far this season.
"The gaffer's got a lot of faith in me," added Williams. "The lads have been great since I walked through the door and made me very welcome.
"It's a young squad and there are a lot of young kids but I like to think I'm quite experienced, and there are a few more here, so if we all dig in together, hopefully we'll be fine.
"I've come here and all I can do is keep putting the shirt on and keep doing the best I can."
