Defender not in manager's plans

Plymouth defender Chris Barker is set to leave after being told he is no longer required by new manager Peter Reid. Barker has spent the past two seasons at Home Park, but following talks with Reid will not be going on the club's pre-season tour of Holland. Reid insists there is no rift between the two and that his decision to allow the 30-year-old to leave is just part and parcel of his job. "Chris Barker won't be going [on tour]," he told the club's official website. "We've had a chat about it and I think his future is away from the club, and I've told him that. "I've made the decision as the manager. You have to make those decisions because that's what I'm paid for. "I have nothing against the boy; it's just a professional decision."
