Former Everton midfielder Anton Peterlin is close to joining Plymouth Argyle, according to the American's agent.

The 23-year-old has impressed at Home Park, which will host League One football next season, during a recent trial after his contract expired at Everton.

New manager Peter Reid has admitted that he wants to make changes to his squad and Peterlin's representative, Barry McLean, claims that his client could be offered a deal.

"Something is happening with Anton," McLean told MLSsoccer.com. "There's a good chance he will sign with Plymouth. We are trying to work it out."

Peterlin played 45 minutes of Tuesday's friendly defeat to Torquay and he is expected to earn another appearance.
