Plymouth have completed the signing of David McNamee on a free transfer from Coventry.
Defender signs two-year deal after leaving Coventry
Plymouth Argyle have completed the signing of David McNamee on a free transfer from Coventry City.
McNamee was out of contract at the Ricoh Arena, but was due to be offered a new deal, if he came through pre-season unscathed.
However, the Scottish full-back has opted for a move to Plymouth and has signed a two-year contract at Home Park.
Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock told the club's
official website: "I've tried to sign him a couple of times.
Versatile
"He's a very versatile defender, who can play in several positions, and he's very quick.
"He has played for Scotland and for Blackburn and was doing very well with Coventry before he had a few injury problems, and is a very good footballer.
"He definitely brings another dimension to our squad and I am really looking forward to working with him."
Sturrock, meanwhile, has ended his interest in signing Austrian international midfielder Jurgen Saumel on a free transfer.
"He has preferred to leave his options open," added Sturrock, who has goalkeeper Graham Stack among five players on trial at the club.
"It's got to the stage he feels he wants to leave it a month and look at the market to see if there's anything out there that would enchant him.
"We move on."
