Milton Keynes Dons have secured the services of ex-Queens Park Rangers man Kevin Gallen on a free transfer.

Plymouth were extremely keen to sign the striker but Gallen opted to put pen-to-paper with The Dons.

Gallen spent half of last season on loan at Plymouth and Ian Holloway made no secret of his desire to bring him to the club.

Talking to the Herald, Holloway said: "I'm very, very hopeful indeed that Kevin will sign for us."

Gallen explained why he chose to sign, he said: "I'm delighted it's sorted. I'm looking forward to playing in the new stadium, which the chairman's shown me round.

"That was a major factor to me joining this club, plus Paul [Ince] being manager."

The veteran striker totalled 366 appearances for QPR, scoring 90 goals.

Paul Ince's first signing at Milton Keynes will meet up with his new team-mates at their Portuguese training camp later on Thursday.
