Motherwell boss Maurice Malpas has handed a trial to Plymouth Argyle midfielder Ryan Dickson.

The 19-year-old comes to the Scottish Premier League club after coming through the ranks at Home Park, having made just three first-team appearances for The Pilgrims.

The Cornwall-born player will hope he can impress the Fir Park outfit, as Malpas looks to boost his squad after a poor start to the new SPL season.

"We have taken a look at Ryan and he comes highly recommended," Malpas said.

"I have talked to two or three people who have spoken very highly of him and we will have a look at him in a closed-doors game.

"We tried to get him in the summer, but we were told he wasn't available, but his situation has now changed.

"The important thing is that he has to be better than what we have got."

It remains to be seen if The Well will move to keep Dickson on before the summer transfer window closes at the end of August.
