Plymouth Argyle striker Micky Evans has signed a new one-year deal with the Championship club.

The 32-year-old will now remain with the Devon outfit until the summer of 2006, despite having been recently linked with a move away from Home Park.

The former Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Bristol Rovers hit-man was linked with moves to League One sides Torquay United and Sheffield Wednesday before last month's transfer deadline.

However, Evans has decided to remain with his hometown club for next season's Championship campaign.

The news is sure to be a boost to Pilgrims boss Bobby Williamson, with Plymouth virtually safe from relegation with three league matches remaining.
