Transfer news: Cardiff send Ravel Morrison back to West Ham on compassionate leave

Ravel Morrison has returned to parent club West Ham from Cardiff City on compassionate leave.

His departure to Upton Park to be closer to home means the former Manchester United midfielder looks unlikely to feature for the Bluebirds again.

Morrison's loan spell ends on Boxing Day and he has failed to work his way into Russell Slade's starting line-up.

A Cardiff statement read: "Due to personal circumstances, Cardiff City have allowed Ravel Morrison compassionate leave and permission to train in more familiar surroundings at this time with his parent club, West Ham United."
