Cardiff City striker Anthony Pilkington has insisted that he has no regrets about leaving Norwich City in the summer.

The Republic of Ireland international was on the books of the Canaries from 2011 until 2014, scoring 14 goals in 75 league matches.

Pilkington will line up for Cardiff against Norwich at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship on Saturday, and he is happy to have made the switch.

“I think the time had come for me to go really,” he told the Norwich Evening News. “It wasn’t time for me to stay there anymore. I have got a fresh start now at Cardiff City so hopefully I can take that chance and show everyone what I can do.

“I don’t have any regrets. I don’t like to look back. I would rather look to the future and Cardiff City.

"I had one or two injuries at Norwich that held me back, particularly over the Christmas period, but hopefully I can stay fit. There is a bright future here.

"The manager has brought in some good talent and we need to get that on the pitch. It is good to get back playing competitive football, although there are loads of strikers and midfielders here so the competition is strong, but you need that if you are a club who want to be challenging to get back into the Premier League.”
