Skysports.com understands Doncaster are poised to sign Jon Parkin from Championship rivals Cardiff.
Doncaster have agreed a deal to sign the 29-year-old on a one-month emergency loan.
Parkin has found himself down the pecking order at Cardiff this season and has made just two appearances in the Carling Cup this term.
The former Preston and Stoke hit-man was linked with a move away from Cardiff during the summer transfer window, but Malky Mackay ended up keeping Parkin.
However Mackay is happy to loan out Parkin so that he can get some regular first-team football under his belt.
Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll has moved for Parkin as he looks for someone to bolster his attacking options with his side rooted to the bottom of the table with just one point from their opening seven games this term.
Parkin is expected to go straight into the Doncaster squad for this weekend's home clash with Crystal Palace.
