Norwich have suffered a major blow with the news that Andrew Surman will be out of action for 'a few months'.
Manager Paul Lambert confirmed the news after the Canaries' rousing second-half fightback at Carrow Road to defeat Barnsley 2-1 in the Championship.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who joined Norwich from Wolves on a three-year deal in the summer has suffered a knee injury, although Lambert did confirm that it wasn't a cruciate problem, as first feared.
The Johannesburg-born midfielder has made four appearances for the East Anglia outfit since his arrival from Molineux but the news of his injury is a bitter blow to the club with some crucial games ahead.
However, Lambert was quick to praise Scot Simon Lappin for providing such excellent cover in Surman's absence.
Lambert said: "Sadly, he's (Surman) hurt his knee. It's not a cruciate or anything like that but he'll still be out for a few months.
"It's a blow but we have got to get on with it and it was good to see Simon Lappin come in and do an excellent job."
