Cardiff City full back Kevin McNaughton will be out for six weeks, prompting manager Dave Jones to explore the loan market.

McNaughton suffered a hamstring strain during the Championship table-toppers' 4-0 victory over Wolves last week.

He was forced to pull out of the Scotland for the Euro 2008 qualifying double-header against France and Ukraine.

The injury has also had a serious impact for Cardiff, with the 24-year-old now unlikely to return to action until well into November.

To compensate for the absence of the left back, Bluebirds boss Jones confirmed his intention to sign a replacement on loan.

Jones told the South Wales Echo: "He (McNaughton) will be out for five or six weeks.

"We're looking urgently for a replacement full back to sign on loan."

Since moving to Ninian Park from Aberdeen over the summer, McNaughton had started all 10 league games en route to Cardiff's rise to the top of the table.
