CARDIFF CITY have snapped up Gareth Ainsworth from Wimbledon for a small, undisclosed fee.
The winger had been loaned to Walsall earlier this season, and The Saddlers were keen to sign him permanently, but he has instead clinched a move to the promotion-chasing Bluebirds, and is expected to make his debut in Tuesday's match against Blackpool.
"He's fast, direct, and can score goals," enthused Cardiff City boss Lennie Lawrence.
"Gareth can unlock defences."
The 29-year-old should prove to be a shrewd acquisition for the Welsh club, who are hoping to be playing Division One football next season.
