IPSWICH TOWN have confirmed that defender Gary Croft is in talks with Second Division Cardiff City.
The 28-year-old spent time on loan at Ninian Park last year and now the Bluebirds are ready to make his move permanent.
Manager George Burley has told Croft that he is not in his plans and he confirmed that the player was talking to Cardiff.
"We have given Gary permission to speak to Cardiff City," said Burley.
"He was on loan there last season and is now considering making it permanent and talks are on-going."
The Bluebirds are also in talks with Welsh international goalkeeper Danny Coyne.
Coyne was transfer listed by Grimsby Town earlier this week and Cardiff boss Lennie Lawrence admitted he would be interested in signing the highly-rated shot-stopper.
"A lot of other clubs will be interested in Danny because the transfer fee Grimsby will be looking for now is significantly less than it was a year ago," said Lawrence. "We are currently in talks but they are at a very early stage"
Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that they have completed the signing Chris Barker from Barnsley.
