DUNDEE goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has returned to Dens Park, after rejecting a loan move to Third Division Cardiff City this week.

Langfield, who is to celebrate his 21st birthday on Friday, had hoped to secure some valuable first team experience by going out on loan, but after thinking over a possible switch to Ninian Park, it is believed that he did not feel he could be guaranteed of that at the Welsh club.

Cardiff boss Alan Cork (pictured) had been hoping to have the Scotland Under-21 international available to him for a month under the proposed loan deal, but he has now returned to Dundee, where he will continue as understudy to Marco Roccati.

"The deal is off," confirmed a Dundee spokesman this week, adding: "The player wanted to return to Dundee Football Club and we accept and understand his reasons for doing so. He is back and was training with the first team squad today."
