On-loan midfielder Liam Palmer is looking forward to testing his mettle against the red half of the Steel City this weekend.

The Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, who joined Tranmere in the summer, admits he is relishing the prospect of playing against Sheffield United for the first time. He told the club's official website: "When I joined Tranmere the United game was the first fixture I looked for, to see when it was. I've always had December 15 in my head and I'm really looking forward to it. "It would be nice for me if we could get a win with my Wednesday connections. "I expect to get some stick from the United fans but hopefully that will make me play better." Palmer added: "I've not played against Sheffield United for Wednesday, I've only made the bench. "It would be nice to get my first Tranmere goal against them. Hopefully it's written in the stars. If not, I will take a win or a good result."
