Premier League Norwich City and Fulham secured pre-season wins on Saturday afternoon but West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic had to settle for draws and Southampton suffered defeat.

West Brom were unable to convert a dominant display into a second pre-season win inside four days as they drew 0-0 with Barnsley at Oakwell.

Wigan were given a workout by Hoffenheim but held on for a 1-1 draw against the Bundesliga club after Matthieu Delpierre equalised Mauro Boselli opening goal.

Chris Hughton's Norwich proved too strong for Peterborough United as goals from Steve Morison and James Vaughan wrapped up a 2-0 win.

Mladen Petric's fourth goal in as many pre-season games, a magnificent Bryan Ruiz free-kick and a Steve Sidwell tap-in gave Fulham a comfortable victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

Southampton's pre-season fixture at St Mary's ended in a 1-0 defeat by Eredivisie champions Ajax, who took the win thanks to winger Aras Ozbiliz's 64th minute goal.

Rivalry

Former Premier League side Bolton remain without a win in pre-season after four matches so far following a 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra in which Martin Petrov equalised Max Clayton's opener.

Frank Nouble, Adam Hammill and Republic of Ireland international Kevin Doyle gave Wolverhampton Wanderers a 3-0 win over Midlands foes Walsall.

Derby picked up their first pre-season win as Michael Jabobs scored the only goal in a 1-0 win in another local rivalry against Burton Albion.

Cheltenham Town upset Birmingham City 1-0 at the Abbey Business Stadium, with defender Harry Hooman scoring the only goal of the game.

Ipswich Town failed to impress as they lost 2-0 to Luton Town following two towering Janos Kovacs headers.

Disappointing

Millwall suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat by Crawley Town courtesy of a first-half goal from Billy Clarke and Gary Alexander's second-half penalty.

Championship new-boys Huddersfield Town drew 2-2 with Hibernian after goals from Lee Novak and Sean Scannell were cancelled out by Leigh Griffiths and Ivan Sproule in Scotland.

Sheffield Wednesday, another side who will be playing in the second tier in the new season after earning promotion, drew 0-0 with relegated Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Derek McInnes' return to McDiarmid Park proved to be an unhappy one as a first-half brace from trialist Rowan Vine was enough to ensure a 2-1 victory for St Johnstone over Bristol City, as Jon Stead's header just before the interval proved no more than a consolation.

Hearts defeated Rotherham 1-0, while St Pauli and Aberdeen drew 1-1.
