Sunderland are checking on Northern Ireland youngster Caolan Lavery.
The 19-year-old is out of contract after quitting Ipswich Town last month.
The Canadian-born striker missed a chunk of last season with a knee injury, but returned late on in good form and featured for the reserve team.
However, he was only offered a short-term deal by Ipswich and he opted to reject this.
Tottenham are known to have been keeping tabs on him and he spent time on trial at Leicester earlier this month.
Now he has travelled to the North East and is spending time with Sunderland, where he is staying with former Town team-mate Connor Wickham.
