U's keen on new deal for Antonio

Colchester are keen to extend striker Michail Antonio's loan stay into a third month after having an impressive start to the season.

The Reading forward first arrived at the Weston Homes Community Stadium in mid-August and, with two goals to his name in nine appearances, still has games against Yeovil and Rochdale remaining as part of his second month at the club. But manager John Ward has already revealed his intentions to try and keep Antonio for the maximum 93 days allowed, should his parent club give the thumbs up to an extension. "I've got Michail for another couple of games and there's a third month option, if Reading agree to it," Ward told the Gazette. "I think Michail would be happy (to stay for another month) but it depends on whether Brian (McDermott, Reading boss) wants him back. "That's out of my hands but we have a chance to keep him for another month and that's something we'd be interested in."
