Oguchi Onyewu expects to know by the end of the week whether he will be joining Birmingham.
The defender, currently contracted to Standard Liege, has been heavily linked with a move to St Andrews in the Belgian press.
Reports have suggested that he is considering an offer from Birmingham and has been given a week to respond.
The 27-year-old has now confirmed that Birmingham are interested in securing his services ahead of the new Premier League season.
Onyewu, who spent time on loan with Newcastle in 2007, admits he is keen to return to England.
He told skysports.com: "I have many offers and I want to play in England so the Birmingham offer is there.
"We will know by the weekend."
