Owls offer skipper new deal

Skysports.com can reveal that Sheff Wed have offered Lee Bullen a one-year extension.

Skysports.com can reveal that Sheffield Wednesday have offered a new one-year deal to captain Lee Bullen.

The veteran Owls skipper is out of contract at the end of the season but his sterling displays in the club's unlikely play-off push have convinced manager Brian Laws of his on-going value.

Laws singled the 36-year-old out for praise following Friday's 1-0 win over West Brom - a result that extended the Yorkshire club's unbeaten run to ten games.

A play-off place is now an outside possibility, but Laws is keen to keep Bullen whatever division Wednesday find themselves in next season and has already offered his skipper a new deal.

The Championship club are also in discussions with another Edinburgh native, striker Steven MacLean, regarding a new deal at Hillsborough.

"We are in negotiations now with the players who are out of contract," Laws confirmed to skysports.com.

"We have started negotiations [with] Lee Bullen in particular and Steven MacLean.

"Lee's been an integral part of the team and we have been delighted with him so far this season.

"We have offered him another year."
