Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland is contemplating a move for Sheffield Wednesday forward Barry Corr.
The Spireites are in need of some attacking pep in order to help them climb away from trouble in League One, having lost Adam Smith to injury.
McFarland has cast his eye over a number of trialists in recent weeks, but has yet to unearth a rough diamond and may now turn to Corr.
"We have had several trialists in and at the moment there is nobody who we feel will really improve us," McFarland told the club's website.
"I will speak to Barry and to Sheffield Wednesday and will make a decision on that one later, but nothing will happen immediately on that one."
Chesterfield face Bristol City on Wednesday, a side Corr spent time on loan with last term.
