Hatters succeed with Talbot bid

Sheffield Wednesday have accepted a bid from Luton for striker Drew Talbot.

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that they have accepted a bid from Championship rivals Luton for striker Drew Talbot.

The youngster will now cut short his loan spell with Scunthorpe if he can agree personal terms at Kenilworth Road following the acceptance of an offer in excess of £250,000.

Luton boss Mike Newell has been searching for a replacement for Rowan Vine in January, having sold his top scorer to Birmingham for £2.5million, and has seemingly settled on Talbot as a cut-price option.

With Warren Feeney and Sam Parkin injured, and Adam Boyd struggling for form, The Hatters are desperate for some attacking reinforcements as they look to avoid slipping into the relegation zone.

Talbot, 20, has made seven appearances for The Owls this season after missing most of the last campaign due to injury, and scored for Scunthorpe against Doncaster on Saturday.

Owls boss Brian Laws had stated that the striker was a part of his forward planning at Hillsborough but his future could now lie in Bedfordshire if personal terms can be agreed.
