Sheffield Wednesday have lost their double appeal to rescind both Wade Small and Chris Brunt's red cards at Coventry City.
Brian Laws's side suffered their first defeat under their new manager at The Ricoh Arena on Saturday, as nine-man Wednesday lost 3-1.
Summer signing Small was shown a straight red card after lashing out at Coventry's Michael Doyle, while Northern Ireland international Brunt was sent off after a professional foul on Chris Birchall.
Laws was not pleased with the two first-half dismissals and promptly appealed the decisions this week.
However, the Football Association appeals panel decided that both red cards should stand, with winger Small out for the next three matches, while midfielder Brunt will serve a one-match ban.
