In a busy day at Boundary Park, Oldham Athletic have completed the signing of Craig Rocastle, while Gareth Owen has moved to Stockport in a loan deal.
Midfielder Rocastle arrives at Oldham from Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer after the Championship outfit agreed to terminate his contract.
The 24-year-old schemer played his part in The Owls' successful bid to beat the drop last term but has now decided to seek pastures new for next season.
Rocastle, who began his career at Chelsea, has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal after concurring on personal terms with new Oldham boss John Sheridan.
Heading in the opposite direction out of the exit door is Owen, who has struggled to command a regular starting berth since joining the club from Stoke.
Last season saw the big stopper request a transfer, which was granted by then incumbent Ronnie Moore, and he has now had his wish granted.
Owen will spend the whole of next season on-loan at Edgeley Park as he looks to revive his somewhat stagnated career.
