Armstrong joins Bantams

Bradford City have signed Craig Armstrong from Sheffield Wednesday.

Bradford City have agreed to sign midfielder Craig Armstrong on a free transfer from Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

The 29-year-old joins Colin Todd's side until the end of the season - with an option to extend his stay with The Bantams for another year beyond the summer.

The former Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town player arrives at Valley Parade after terminating his contract at Hillsborough by mutual consent on Tuesday.

The midfielder has not played in Wednesday's first team since last February and was subsequently transfer-listed by former boss Chris Turner in the summer.

The arrival of current Owls boss Paul Sturrock made little change to his fortunes at the club after the Scot told him he was surplus to requirements back in November.

Meanwhile, one player to leave Bradford is teenage centre back Sam Denton, who has joined non-league Guiseley on loan in order to get more first team experience.
