Sheffield Wednesday defender Guy Branston is joining Peterborough United on a month's loan, after rejecting a reunion with former Owls manager Chris Turner.

Branston has agreed to spend four weeks on loan at London Road, where he enjoyed the closing two-and-a-half months of last season.

He was signed by Turner for The Owls from Rotherham United in the summer but has failed to impress new boss Paul Sturrock.

Turner has since taken over at Stockport County and he was keen to bring the 25-year-old to Edgeley Park on a temporary basis.

But Turner has revealed that Branston has spurned The Hatters in favour of a return to Peterborough and he is due to make his debut against Bristol City on New Year's Day.

"We thought Guy was coming to us but he has decided to go to Peterborough," lamented Turner.

"I've known him a long time but we'll keep trying."
