Clive Platt has left Notts County for Peterborough United, the second blow to the cash-strapped Second Division Magpies in a matter of 24 hours.

Hot on the heels of manager Billy Dearden's resignation, Platt has also departed Meadow Lane after seeing County torn apart 5-2 by his new club Posh in a Nationwide League fixture on Tuesday night.

The tall target man was only on a monthly deal with County and shrewd Fry pounced when those terms expired to fend off reported competition from Queens Park Rangers, Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.

"I am absolutely delighted to sign Clive Platt," Fry told Peterborough's official website.

"His monthly deal ended last night and, after lengthy talks with his agent, I am pleased to announce his arrival.

"A lot of other teams were interested in him, but he has put pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half year deal at London Road."

Platt sat out Tuesday's match as he finalised his switch to Posh, and the 26-year-old will wear the number ten shirt vacated by Leon McKenzie's departure to Norwich City.
