NORWICH CITY are set to launch a bid to sign Sheffield Wednesday defender Leigh Bromby.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a loan spell at Carrow Road last season and Canaries boss Nigel Worthington is keen to bring him back to Norfolk.

Owls manager Chris Turner wanted to swap Bromby for Norwich striker David Nielsen at the end of last season, but that move was rejected by City.

Turner will allow Bromby to leave Hillsborough if the right offer comes in and now Worthington is about to make his move.

He is keen to add strength to his back-line before the season gets into full swing and is looking to come up with a deal to take Bromby back to Division One.

Turner knows the players he needs to see The Owls challenging for a promotion place in Division Two and is looking to move Bromby on.
