Holloway initially took Bignot to Rovers from Crewe in March 2000 and has landed a useful asset in securing the services of a player that is comfortable performing in every position along the back row.
Bignot, who moved for an undisclosed fee, revealed to QPR's official site that Holloway's presence at Loftus Road was a major contributing factor in his decision to move to West London.
"Ian made a huge impression on me at Bristol Rovers," Bignot declared. "I only worked with him for six months but his enthusiasm and passion really rubbed off on me. You're not going to get anyone who works harder.
"I've played at Loftus Road on many occasions with Crewe and I always looked forward to playing here - the crowd are so close to the pitch that it makes for a fantastic atmosphere," continued the former Birmingham City trainee.
"I've got on well with the fans at the last few clubs I have played for and I'm looking forward to meeting the fans here.
"I'm over the moon with the transfer and I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead. Hopefully Rangers can put a few wins together and remain in the First Division for next season, because it is a great stage to play on."
Higgins, a precocious 19-year-old midfielder, has joined The Hoops after being released by Wednesday earlier in the year.
